The colony

On the border between Laren and Blaricum on the edge of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug with a view over meadows painted by Mauve, the Dooyewaard Foundation owns several artists’ studios. The Studios are located on a spacious plot and combined make up The Colony. The Original Studios have been restored with great care and awareness of their historical significance and have been placed on top of spacious modern basements with large glass ceilings, creating fantastic work and living spaces for artists.

By restoring these studios and making them again available to artists as work and living spaces, The Colony aims to function as a hinge between past, present and future.

More information on the studios, their history and the restoration process can be found on www.dooyewaardstichting.nl

The Dooyewaard Foundation and The Mondrian Initiative have agreed that the Colony studios can be used as part of The Mondrian Prize.
